PAST EVENTS
On November 25, Mr. John Johnson, Cultural Attaché of the American Embassy in Belgrade, spoke about Thanksgiving in the USA.
On Monday, October 31, American Corner Novi Sad celebrated Halloween. American volunteer, Andrew Pelkey, told scary stories and Halloween spooky music was played as a music backround to make the right atmosphere. After telling the stories, the volunteer told the children more about history of this holiday and how it is celebrated in America.
On October 6, American Corner celebrated its first anniversary. Students of secondary school in Sremski Karlovci sang songs from the Broadway musicle "Little Shop of Horrors".
In September, Petar Z. Bugarchich gave two lectures at the Corner: "Writing for North American Audiences" and "Internet or E-learning - what's good about it".
 
Chris Whitley Band, famous musicians who performed at this year's Exit festival on jazz and blues stage, were ACNS guests on July 9.  
July 4th - INDEPENDENCE DAY celebration at the US Ambassador's residence.
On July 1st, there was a lecture "Global English" by Petar Z. Bugarchich, Freelance ESL/EFL Teacher. The lecture covered some of the most important problems which both English teachers and learners face. International Academic Center from Belgrade and American Corner Novi Sad organized individual consultations for people interested in studying in the USA, June 29 - July 1.
 
On Friday, June 24, at the American Corner, there was a presentation of the American football club "NS Dukes" from Novi Sad. It was held by the club trainer Mr. Aleksandar Lazarevic, PR Ms. Zorica Simic and the players.
On May 27 Mr. Alex Papke, an editor and journalist, gave a lecture "HOW TO WRITE A SUCCESSFUL CURRICULUM VITAE". The lecture looked into the uses and constructs of a properly prepared CV and gave tips for putting together an effective CV. The topic of the Workshop for children which was held on May 27 was ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION. The idea was to help increase children's awareness of the environmental issues.
Since the beginning of May the YOUTH CLUB has been organized with American volunteers, Sam Henderson and Andy Gould On May 24 there was a lecture on history of America as a superpower: "THE DILEMMAS OF A SUPERPOWER: THE UNITED STATES AND THE WORLD" by Dr. Jeffrey W. Coker from Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee
Every Monday in April, our young members could join the Youth Club with two Americans, Maria Santiago and Jason Swiecki, and learn more about youth culture in the USA.

The American Ambassador in Belgrade, Mr. Michael C. Polt visited American Corner on March 30. After talking to the AC staff about the Corner's work, he held a press conference.
March 28 - Play: "Writing the Wrongs" performed by children from the private shool of English ŠKOLIGRICA from the AC book "10 Women who Helped Shape America".
On March 7th we organized a TOEFL Presentation. Our members Biljana Markovic (English teacher), Maja Knezev and Zarko Djekic (students who have recently passed the test) talked about how to prepare for TOEFL.

On March 4th there was a talk on student visas and studying in the USA by Carlos A. Gallardo, Consular Associate, Christian Wright, Cultural Attaché and Chris Prickett, International Academic Center Director for Academic Advising.
On February 14 there was a workshop for kids - AC staff helped them make valentine cards for their parents.
Workshop by Lee Nordgren: Conversation Club is organized every Wednesday.
On January 10 a lecture was held by Mr Brian Grodsky, doctorial candidate of Department of Political Science, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The topic of the lecture was "Selective Justice: A risk-based analysis of transitional justice application".
Christmas Party for children was organized with "Healing Hearts" activists on December 23.
On December 21 at American Corner there was the opening of exhibition by Aleksandar M. Trbovich named "Christmas Homes: Photographs of Boston homes for Christmas 2002". Visitors were able to see the exhibition until the end of January.
